I prefer to do the KOTN quest very late, that way you're as pure as driven snow. Helps your disposition and stuff.
I would be a procrastinator, but I keep putting it off.

thats exactly my point. its easy to mess things up if you start it too early on

well it is repeatable. It just cleanses your infamy on repeats.
